LSU will rely on a new-look offensive line when it faces Baylor in the Texas Bowl. A combination of draft opt-outs and injuries have forced several young Tigers’ into action.
One veteran who is playing is Miles Frazier. He’ll bump out to tackle after playing right guard all season. Amid bowl prep in Houston, Frazier met with the media, directing attention at the young guns.
One freshman in particular stood out to Frazier in 2024.
“I would say Coen Echols made the biggest jump, just his physicality at the point of attack. It’s just something you don’t see in people nowadays,” Frazier said.
“Every single time he’s trying to take somebody’s head off,” Frazier added.
Echols was a four-star recruit in the class of 2024. According to On3, he was the No. 14 ranked interior offensive linemen in the class.
He served as LSU’s backup center in 2024, only seeing 19 snaps of action in garbage time. In recent weeks, Echols has seen practice reps at guard, giving him a chance to play vs. Baylor.
LSU’s expected to start Bo Bordelon and Paul Mubenga at guard. If either struggle, don’t be surprised to see Echols get a shot.
