Trent McDuffie, Chiefs, can clinch No. 1 seed in AFC with Christmas Day win

Trent McDuffie can help the Kansas City Chiefs secure the No. 1 seed in the AFC with a win on Christmas.

Over his three-year NFL career, former Washington Huskies star cornerback Trent McDuffie has gotten used to two things with the Kansas City Chiefs: winning and playing at Arrowhead Stadium in the playoffs.

Since McDuffie joined the team, Kansas City has gone 39-10 in the regular season and has won Super Bowls LVII and LVIII. In 2022, the Chiefs secured the top seed in the AFC, and the road to the Super Bowl went through Arrowhead Stadium, but in 2023, they had to travel to Buffalo and Baltimore to secure back-to-back titles.

With McDuffie looking for his third ring and quarterback Patrick Mahomes looking for his fourth, the Chiefs have an opportunity to secure home-field advantage throughout the NFL playoffs once again with a victory on Christmas Day over the Pittsburgh Steelers.

The All-Pro cornerback who has quickly evolved into one of the best defenders in the league will have a tough assignment against one of the NFL’s most physical receivers, George Pickens.

The 6-foot-3, 200-pound receiver, who has missed the last three weeks with a hamstring injury, has developed strong downfield chemistry with quarterback Russell Wilson and has put together a strong season, totaling 55 catches for 850 yards and 3 touchdowns. However, McDuffie has also had another dominant season.

The former first-round pick has put together 55 tackles, 6 for loss, the first 2 interceptions of his career, and a career-high 12 pass breakups and should be well on his way to a Pro Bowl nomination.
