How Kentucky fared in the latest Joe Lunardi Bracketology

Kentucky basketball is a two seed in the latest ESPN Bracketology after the loss to Ohio St.

Although Christmas is still tomorrow, Kentucky basketball fans will have at least one present to open on Christmas Eve — even if it does feel like opening socks or underwear.

The Wildcats are still highly ranked in Christmas Eve’s latest Bracketology prediction from ESPN expert Joe Lunardi, although they did fall somewhat after losing for the second time this season.

Kentucky Basketball (10-2) is now ranked as a two-seed in the South region. Should that prediction hold, they would play fifteen-seed Montana in the NCAA tournament’s opening round.

The prior week, Kentucky was ranked as a one seed following strong wins against Colgate and  Louisville.

The slight fall comes after the Wildcats lost a shocker on Saturday — falling to unranked Ohio State 85-65 in the CBS Sports Classic.

The loss, as a result, catapulted teams like the Duke Blue Devils up the bracket.

“Yet after a pair of cupcake wins to open the schedule, Duke suffered high-profile losses to Kentucky and Kansas and fell off the radar a bit, falling all the way to a 3-seed at Thanksgiving,” Lunardi said. “In December, though, it’s no exaggeration that Duke has performed at a Final Four level.”

The Wildcats may not have a chance to redeem themselves this week, as they aren’t set to play again until a matchup against Brown on New Year’s Eve — which happens to be next Tuesday, when Lunardi’s next Bracketology report releases.
