Cardinals rule out tackles Paris Johnson, Jonah Williams for Week 17 vs. Rams

Paris Johnson and Jonah Williams will miss the Week 17 game against the Rams with knee injuries and might be done for the season.

The Arizona Cardinals will play against the Los Angeles Rams on Saturday with two backup tackles starting. Head coach Jonathan Gannon told reporters Tuesday that neither left tackle Paris Johnson nor right tackle Jonah Williams will play in the game. Both have knee injuries.

Johnson suffered his in Week 15 against the New England Patriots and missed the game on Sunday.

Williams injured his knee in the third quarter of the Cardinals’ loss to the Panthers.

When asked if both were done for the season, as there is only one more game after this week, Gannon said, “We’ll see.”

We can expect to see Kelvin Beachum start for the second week in a row at left tackle in place of Johnson. Jackson Barton was elevated from the practice squad last week and replaced Williams after he got hurt. He could get signed to the active roster or elevated this weekend and start in place of Williams.

Rookie Christian Jones has been inactive every week since he returned from injured reserve. He isn’t likely going to start but perhaps would be active to be the backup tackle. Charlie Heck, also on the practice squad, could figure into the plan as well.
