Mike Evans inches closer to his 11th straight season with 1,000 yards receiving

After being hampered by injuries this season Texas A&M great Mike Evan still has a chance to make history

While Mike Evans does not grab the headlines like some of the league’s more popular wide receivers, he’s been the standard of professionalism and constancy for his entire 11-year career.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneer has already etched his name in the NFL and team record books. He currently has 10 consecutive seasons with 1,000 receiving yards and is 182 yards shy of that for his 11th season. If not for a hamstring injury this season, he would have already reached that milestone as the second receiver behind Hall of Famer Jerry Rice.

There are two games left in the regular season, and he will need to average 91 yards a game to hit the century mark. Evans is projected to finish about 80 yards shy, but with Tampa Bay fighting for a playoff spot, He will be a key contributor in these final must-win games.

His best opportunity to make a significant dent will be when they face the Carolina Panthers this weekend. In his first meeting against them this season, he hauled eight catches for 118 yards and one touchdown.

It’s not unreasonable to think that, going into Week 18, when they face the New Orleans Saints, he will need under 60 yards.

Making the playoffs is the main goal, and Evans will do whatever the team asks to make it to the post-season, even if his personal goal suffers in the process.
