Ex-Broncos DL Shelby Harris gives controversial take on QB Bo Nix

“He did just enough and he lived off that defense,” ex-Broncos DL Shelby Harris said of Bo Nix’s win over the Browns.

The Denver Broncos crashed down to earth this past Thursday after allowing the Los Angeles Chargers to come back for a 34-27 victory.

Two games earlier, the Broncos defeated the Cleveland Browns 41-32 on Monday Night Football. Following that game, defensive lineman Shelby Harris gave a controversial take on rookie quarterback Bo Nix.

Harris, who played for five years with the Broncos, stated that Nix has been a beneficiary of the Broncos defense and that his lack of experience on the pro level has sometimes shown up.

”I think that he needs to make the little throws,” Harris said on his podcast. “It’s a lot of flare. Obviously, that big throw is going to get a lot of airtime. We’re going to talk on it. It was obviously a big throw. But also, the other throw should’ve been an interception.

“So we can (say), ‘Oh my God, great arm’ and all that, but I think he’s still a rookie. Obviously, the ceiling is there, he can be a very good quarterback, but he did just enough and he lived off that defense.”

After video of his take went viral, Harris told this to fans on Twitter/X:

Harris, 33, has totaled 37 tackles and 1.5 sacks in 14 games this season.
