Is Ryan Kelly playing today? Injury updates for Colts center

Indianapolis Colts C Ryan Kelly was designated to return from IR last week. Will he play on Sunday vs. the Titans?

Indianapolis Colts center Ryan Kelly was designated to return from injured reserve last week but did not end up playing against the Denver Broncos in Week 15.

After another week of practice, will we see Kelly on the field in Week 16 against the Tennessee Titans?

Ryan Kelly injury update

Kelly has been injured reserve since Week 10 working his way through a knee injury. Last week, Kelly was eased back his return to practice, where he was a limited participant all three days.

This week, however, he was a full participant on Wednesday and Thursday and then did not practice on Friday, which could have been rest for him.

Will Ryan Kelly play on Sunday?

Following Friday’s practice, Kelly was listed as questionable. However, on Saturday, the Colts activated Kelly off injured reserve and removed his injury designation, meaning he will play against the Titans on Sunday.

Colts OL depth chart

With Kelly back, he will slide back into his starting center position. Over the last two games, that’s a role that Danny Pinter has filled.

Over the last two games with Mark Glowinski at right guard, the Colts run game on offense has improved, and that trend will have to continue if they’re going to get back into the win column.

However, since Anthony Richardson has returned to the starting lineup, he’s been among the most pressured quarterbacks in football during that span of five games. Kelly’s return will have to provide more stability in that regard. Constant pressure for a young quarterback is not going to be a recipe for success.
