PFF grades: Colts’ best and worst performances vs Broncos

Here are the Colts’ best and worst performances from their Week 15 loss to Denver, according to Pro Football Focus’ grading system.

Pro Football Focus has now reviewed the tape and handed out their individual players’ grades following the Indianapolis Colts’ Week 15 loss to the Broncos.

So, which players on offense and defense received the highest marks, and which players did not?

The caveat to all of this before we dive in is that while PFF’s grading system is very helpful at quantifying a player’s overall performance, it is not the be-all-end-all when it comes to player evaluation either. Rather, it is one metric that has its pros and cons and should be treated as such.

Here is a look at PFF’s grading system to provide some context behind the numbers:

90.0+: Elite
80-89.9: High quality
70-79.9: Good
60-69.9: Above average
50-59.9: Average
40-49.9: Below average
39.9 or less: Poor

Below you will find which Colts’ players did not receive high grades from PFF. However, if you would like a more optimistic, glass-half-full type of outlook, you can find a full breakdown of the Colts highest graded offensive players here, and their highest-graded defenders here.

DT Raekwon Davis

PFF grade: 30.9

Davis played only 16 snaps in this game and according to PFF’s metrics, the only stat he registered was an assist on a tackle. Now, when discussing interior defenders, their presence isn’t always going to show up in the stat sheet. Oftentimes their ability to take on double-teams and eat up space can help create opportunities for others. However, with Davis receiving a run defense grade of 35.6, PFF didn’t see that being the case either.

RG Mark Glowinski

PFF grade: 37.9

On 47 pass-blocking snaps, Glowinski was responsible for seven pressures and a sack.  Out of 61 eligible guards in Week 15, Glowinski ranked 56th in PFF’s pass blocking efficiency metric. He also had a run-blocking grade of just 37.5, although he did help open up the running lane for Jonathan Taylor on his 41 yard run.

WR AD Mitchell

PFF grade: 40.3

With Ashton Dulin out and Alec Pierce exiting the game, Mitchell took on a much larger role this week. He was targeted three times in the passing game but had no receptions, and of course, was responsible for the pick-six on the double-pass trick play in the fourth quarter.
