There is no shortage of All-American accolades for Penn State defensive lineman [autotag]Abdul Carter[/autotag] and tight end [autotag]Tyler Warren[/autotag]. The American Football Coaches of America released its list of All-Americans for the 2024 season, and Carter and Warren each were included.
Carter was named a first-team All-American by the AFCA. This was the second first team honor bestowed upon Penn State’s top defensive player, which brings him one step closer to being considered a Consensus All-American for this season. The first was the Walter Camp Football Foundation All-American list.
Warren, who was named the recipient of this year’s Mackey Award as the top tight end in the nation, was named Second team All-American by the AFCA. Bowling Green’s Harold Fannin Jr. received the AFCA’s First-Team honor. Warren was also named a sEcond Team All-American by the Walter Camp Football Foundation as well.
To be considered a Consensus All-American by the NCAA, a player needs to be named a First-Team All-Americna by three of the five recognized All-American teams; AFCA, Walter Camp Football Foundation, AP, FWAA, and The Sporting News. With a pair of First-Team honors already, Carter is one more All-American first-team honor away from achieving consensus status. Warren must make the first team on the AP, FWAA, and The Sporting News.
