Penn State hopes its season will end in the second week of January. Still, as if these first two weeks of December couldn’t get any more hectic with signing day, the transfer portal, and the CFP bracket, the Big Ten decided to release its 2025 football schedule.
The Big Ten released its conference slate during a live TV special Wednesday afternoon. Penn State’s non-conference slate and conference opponents were already known. Now, we know the exact dates of specific matchups and where Penn State’s bye weeks fall next season.
As it was in 2024, the Nittany Lions will not have to deal with the Michigan Wolverines. Penn State must travel to Columbus to take on Ohio State, which will challenge the Nittany Lions. After playing all four former Pac-12 teams this year, Penn State will host a Big Ten Championship rematch against the Oregon Ducks, which seems like the top candidate for the White Out.
The most challenging stretch of games seems to be Oregon, UCLA, Northwestern, and Iowa from late September to October. Penn State will have its bye weeks to bookend this stretch, but a trip out west without a week off on either end will be no easy task.
The Penn State 2025 campaign will begin at home on Aug. 30, 2025, against Nevada. The Nittany Lions will open Big Ten play with the home matchup against Oregon on Sept. 27, a massive opening game for their conference slate.
