Huskers could target Missouri edge defender in transfer portal

Williams Nwaneri would be a logical fit for the Huskers.

Missouri Tigers edge defender Williams Nwaneri entered the transfer portal on Tuesday. Nebraska football has connections to the defender, as transfer portal season is in full swing. He recorded two tackles this season against the University of Massachusetts.

There are some Nebraska connections here. Jamar Mozee was Nwaneri’s high school football coach at Lee’s Summit North High School. Mozee is now on Nebraska’s staff as a senior football assistant.

Nwaneri also visited Nebraska quite a few times as a recruit. He visited the campus twice in 2022 and once in 2023. All visits were unofficial.

The Huskers need edge help, as several players have left the program via the transfer portal. James Williams and Princewill Umamielen are two names of note in particular. The program needs to load up on defense. Nwaneri seems to be a logical fit, given his connections and familiarity with the program.
