The transfer portal officially opened on Monday, which means the LSU football roster is about to look different.
Roster movement is fluid in the modern era of college football, and it’s no different at LSU. On Thursday, defensive back Sage Ryan became the 16th Tiger to hit the portal.
So far, the most notable was wide receiver CJ Daniels.
Daniels, along with Pimpton, are the two biggest surprises. Both were lined up for big roles if they stuck with LSU in 2025. With Pimpton entering the portal, a big need at tight end emerges for LSU.
Kelly said LSU plans to be aggressive when it comes to adding transfers. LSU didn’t land any big names in the portal last year, but fans are hoping for a different result this cycle.
LSU has big needs at wide receiver, defensive end, and safety. If LSU addresses those three positions and does well with player retention, the Tigers can compete for an SEC title in 2025.
Here’s an updated transfer portal tracker.
