OL Geirean Hatchett announces return to Washington

The Washington Huskies are set to reunite with offensive lineman Geirean Hatchett.

After a year away, offensive lineman Geirean Hatchett is set to return to the Washington Huskies. The former four-star recruit originally committed to coach Chris Petersen’s staff as part of the 2020 class, and played in 23 games between the 2022 and 2023 seasons, starting four games along Washington’s Joe Moore Award-winning unit before transferring to Oklahoma.

He spent just one year in Norman but suffered from injuries throughout the season. The interior offensive lineman missed spring practice with a reported leg injury and after the Sooners’ first game of the season, coach Brent Venables announced that Hatchett would be out for the season after suffering a biceps injury that would need surgery to correct.

Less than an hour after the news that Hatchett was entering the transfer portal surfaced, he posted a graphic on social media with the caption, “Why have one when you can have two?” flanked by his younger brother Landen, who is expected to take over as Washington’s starting center in 2025.

Hatchett’s experience and ties to Washington could make him an important piece of offensive coordinator Brennan Carroll’s rotation along the offensive line as the Huskies look for stability in front of quarterback Demond Williams Jr., and could be the first of several additions to the front.
