Nebraska football will bring back coach Phil Simpson to coach the outside linebackers. According to a report from HuskersTalk, Simpson will arrive on campus later this week.
Simpson was previously on the Nebraska staff as a defense of quality control coach. He then moved on to the Florida State Seminoles, where he joined that program as a defensive analyst in February.
Simpson was instrumental in recruiting some of the program’s top recruits to Lincoln. He coached wide receiver Cortez Mills in high school and started recruiting in 2022. He also recruited the state of Florida for the Huskers at a high level.
Simpson had a hand in recruiting the likes of Barney, Vincent Shavers, Willis McGahee IV, Larry Tarver, Amare Sanders, and Cortez Mills. He was able to make a large impact on the program in that way.
It will be interesting to see who else is going to be added to the Nebraska coaching staff. There has been a ton of staff movement over the past couple of days.
