The Florida football program had to watch this year’s edition of the Southeastern Conference college football championship game at home, but despite the inactivity, the Gators gained some ground in the latest Associated Press Poll.
Following a road victory at the Florida State Seminoles last weekend to clinch a three-game winning streak and a winning record for the 2024 campaign, the Orange and Blue found themselves with four votes in the poll. After the dust settled from this weekend’s action, Billy Napier and Co. added a vote to give them five heading into their yet-to-be-determined bowl game.
That gives Florida a de facto No. 32 ranking and puts them three votes behind the LSU Tigers, who fell in the Swamp during Week 12.
SEC schools in AP Poll
Fellow conference schools earning votes this week include the second-ranked Georgia Bulldogs, followed by the fourth-ranked Texas Longhorns and seventh-ranked Tennessee Volunteers to round out the top 10. The Alabama Crimson Tide (No. 11), South Carolina Gamecocks (No. 14), Ole Miss Rebels (No. 16) and Missouri Tigers (No. 23) round out the SEC teams in the top 25.
The Texas A&M Aggies are essentially the No. 26 team with 75 votes, followed by LSU and Florida.
