Clemson is heading to Texas for the first round of the College Football Playoff

Clemson is heading to Texas.

Dabo Swinney and the Clemson Tigers did not earn a first round bye, but they do now know where they will be heading for their first matchup of the College Football Playoff.

The Tigers are the lowest seed in the 12-team playoff, ranked No. 16 but earning their spot in the playoff after beating the Texas Longhorns. Clemson was hoping for the bye, but Boise State was given the No. 3 seed and Arizona State the No. 4 seed. It doesn’t seem Clemson was considered very much for either of these byes with their ranking.

This is the Tigers seventh College Football Playoff appearance under Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney, with Clemson winning two National Championships during the CFP era.
