Nebraska football edge defender James Williams entered the transfer portal on Tuesday. On3’s Hayes Fawcett reported this.
Williams made an impact in his two seasons in Lincoln. He played in every game this season, recording 14 tackles and five sacks. As he adjusted to the defense, he recorded four tackles and two sacks in 2023.
Williams joined Nebraska in 2023 after spending one season at Iowa Central Community College.
Williams joins defensive lineman Jimari Butler in the portal as the defensive side of the football continues to get an overhaul.
Nebraska football is losing a ton of talent on the defensive line. Ty Robinson and Nash Hutmacher will no longer be in the equation. Williams and Butler have entered the transfer portal. The 2025 recruiting class has several talented defenders, in particular defensive linemen. Nevertheless, Williams could have been a piece to build on for the future.
