2025 NFL draft: Titans select Mykel Williams in latest The Athletic mock

The Tennessee Titans are slated to select 7th in the 2025 NFL draft and Dane Brugler from The Athletic sees them addressing their defense.

The Tennessee Titans sit at 3-9 on the season and many fans have already turned their attention to April and the 2025 NFL draft.

Unfortunately, unlike in past years where there was consensus on the top prospects, after Colorado Buffaloes cornerback/wide receiver Travis Hunter, there is no clear-cut order in the player rankings. That’s not to say there isn’t talent; there is. That just means that the players this year and in what order they are selected will likely be more in line with scheme fit than a consensus draft board.

This is going to make this draft both exciting and polarizing, especially for fans who aren’t embedded inside team facilities to see the actual big board.

In fact, this is already visible in the mock drafts published across the web. No one has a clue as to how this draft is going to fall and it will probably remain that way until at least February and the NFL combine.

NFL draft expert Dane Brugler of The Athletic recently released his latest mock draft and has the Titans bypassing their greatest need, offensive tackle, and going defense with the seventh pick.

7. Tennessee Titans: Mykel Williams, Edge, Georgia

After upgrading Tennessee’s offensive line in the first round the last two years, general manager Ran Carthon now can turn to the defensive side of the ball. Although his production has dropped this season as he’s battled through an ankle injury, Williams has a rare blend of power, athleticism and length. His 2024 Texas tape alone might be enough for him to be drafted this high.

There is no doubt the Titans do need more out of their edge players and Williams is possibly the top edge prospect for the 2025 NFL draft. He boasts prototypical size, length, and athleticism that allows him to be versatile enough to play multiple spots along the defensive front whether in a 4-3 or 3-4 alignment. He does need some refinement with hand placement and consistency, but he has the tools to be a high-impact player in the NFL.

What are your thoughts, Titans fans? Would you pick Mykel Williams or select an entirely different player in the 2025 NFL draft?
