Atlanta Falcons sign former 7th-round pick to practice squad

Falcons sign former seventh-round pick Jovaughn Gwyn to 16-man practice squad

The Falcons have signed former seventh-round pick Jovaughn Gwyn to their 16-man practice squad, the team announced on Saturday afternoon. Atlanta selected Gwyn with pick No. 225 in the 2023 NFL draft out of South Carolina.

The 25-year-old returns to Atlanta one day after being released from the 53-man roster. The Falcons signed outside linebacker Demone Harris to the roster in a corresponding move on Thursday.

The team also elevated two players from the practice squad — kicker Riley Patterson and linebacker Josh Woods — ahead of Sunday’s game against the Los Angeles Chargers.

Despite losing to the Baltimore Ravens on Monday night, the Chargers are slight favorites over the Falcons entering Week 13. Atlanta has dropped two straight games, including a 32-point loss to the Denver Broncos in Week 11.

Sunday’s game kicks off at 1 p.m. ET in Atlanta. Check out the team’s latest depth chart, injury report and 53-man roster entering Week 13.
