ESPN’s SP+ predicts the winner of LSU’s meeting with Oklahoma

What does ESPN’s SP+ say about LSU’s chances on Saturday night?

The LSU Tigers will host the Oklahoma Sooners on Saturday night. It’s OU’s first year in the SEC and the first time the two programs are meeting as conference foes.

Oklahoma is coming off a massive win over Alabama. The Sooners became bowl-eligible while upsetting the Crimson Tide at home.

Last time out, LSU snapped a three-game losing streak, beating Vanderbilt 24-17 in Tiger Stadium.

It was a much-needed win for Brian Kelly and staff after LSU saw a midseason collapse ruin its playoff hopes. A home game vs. Oklahoma gives the Tigers a chance to finish the year on a high note at 8-4.

It’s not where LSU wanted to be, but Kelly has a chance to regain momentum heading into the bowl game and the offseason.

Bill Connelly’s SP+ system released its weekly projections.

The model likes LSU’s chances, projecting the Tigers to win by 3.6 points. However, that margin is closer than the Vegas spread at six points.

If SP+ is right, we’re in for a close one on Saturday night.

The system projects a final score of 28-24, which falls under the current total.
