Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow enjoying an MVP-like season isn’t just an opinion held by fans of the team itself.
Take, for example, Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin,
Speaking with reporters before the Bengals and Steelers meet for the first time this season, Tomlin described Burrow’s season as “MVP-caliber,” according to ESPN’s Brooke Pryor.
It isn’t just coach-speak ahead of a game, either. Burrow has completed 67.2 percent of his passes with 3,028 yards and 27 touchdowns against four interceptions. This, despite a shaky offensive line and Tee Higgins only being able to suit up for six games.
Of course, Burrow himself would likely dismiss such praise given his team’s 4-7 record — and that’s the thing likely keeping him out of the MVP conversation entirely.
Still, what Burrow’s doing isn’t going unnoticed. And if he can beat Tomlin’s Steelers the two times he sees them between now and the end of the season, plus will his Bengals to wins in the other four games left, he’d certainly enter the MVP conversation in a big way.
