With the fourth edition of the [autotag]College Football Playoff[/autotag] rankings being announced on Tuesday night, we found out that Notre Dame football has moved up one spot to No. 5 overall.
Due to the seeding rules, the Irish don’t hold the same seed position, instead having the No. 7 spot in the bracket which hypothetically has them facing off against the Southern Methodist Mustangs. You can see the full bracket here.
While not the most fascinating game, it would still be a home game for Notre Dame, and then having to face a Texas Longhorns team that could potentially have an ailing star quarterback in Quinn Ewers. He injured his ankle this past weekend against Kentucky, but it does seem like he avoided a serious issue.
Upon first glance, this is a pretty good setup for the Irish, as they’d have Oregon, Ohio State, Georgia and Tennessee on the other side of the bracket. This will surely change over the next few weeks, but Notre Dame is in a great position heading into the season finale against USC.
