The New England Patriots announced the release of interior offensive lineman Michael Jordan on Tuesday. In a corresponding move, they also announced they had claimed guard Lester Cotton off waivers.
Jordan was a key figure on the Patriots’ offensive line this season. He started in all 11 games at guard, but he has struggled throughout the year. Coach Jerod Mayo acknowledged there could be changes along the offensive line after Sunday’s blowout loss to the Miami Dolphins, and this seems to be one of those changes.
What will Cotton bring to the table?
The former Alabama alum is a powerful interior guard with nine career NFL starts under his belt. He played in on 56 percent of the offensive snaps with the Miami Dolphins last season.
There will surely be opportunities for him on a Patriots roster that is thin across the board along the offensive front.
