The Houston Rockets (12-6) and Minnesota Timberwolves (8-8) meet in NBA Cup group play Tuesday. Tip-off from Target Center is scheduled for 8 p.m. ET. Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s NBA odds around the Rockets vs. Timberwolves odds and make our expert NBA picks and predictions for the best bets.
Season series: First meeting; Timberwolves swept 3-0 last season
The Rockets split a 2-game home series with the Portland Trail Blazers over the weekend. After winning the Friday-night opener 116-88, Houston lost 104-98 Saturday. The Rockets were 11.5-point favorites and the Under hit in both games.
The Timberwolves lost 107-105 as 8-point underdogs at the Boston Celtics Sunday as the Under (222) cashed. Minnesota is just 2-5 straight up (SU) and against the spread (ATS) in its last 7 games.

Rockets at Timberwolves picks and predictions
Prediction
Rockets 110, Timberwolves 105
Moneyline
Whether or not Green plays, I still like the Rockets to win SU. I’ve never understood why the market thought so highly of the Timberwolves after they traded away F Karl-Anthony Towns in the offseason. Minnesota is just 2-4 SU in its last 6 games as a favorite and is still being overvalued due to its preseason expectations.
BET ROCKETS (+135).
Against the spread
Houston +3.5 (-110) is fine to play. I prefer getting plus money on the ML, though.
PASS. Bet the ML and/or total instead.
Over/Under
The Under has hit in back-to-back games overall for both teams. Houston scored 98 against Portland Saturday, and Minnesota put up 105 at Boston Sunday. Neither offense looks great right now.
BET UNDER 220.5 (-110).
