Former head coach would be ‘shocked’ if UNC landed top recruit

A former coach believes a top recruit will commit to BYU.

North Carolina only has two commits in the 2025 recruiting class, landing two four-star prospects.  With it being such an important class for Hubert Davis, the head coach has to find a way to land some more talent.

The Tar Heels do have a few targets left on their recruiting board including top player A.J. Dybantsa. The Tar Heels have been in pursuit of the No. 1 overall prospect for a while now but it’s tough to get a read on his recruitment. However, one former head coach and current ESPN analyst would be ‘shocked’ if the recruit didn’t land at a surprise program.

Josh Pastner said he’d be ‘shocked’ if Dybantsa didn’t go to BYU during a segment on ESPN:

Dybantsa plays for Utah Prep, transferring out there to finish out his high school career. When that happened, BYU became a strong favorite to land him, which has been the case since.

Now, UNC has stuck in the race and is in good position to at least pull off a surprise and potentially land him. But they do have their work cut out for them moving forward and landing Dybantsa would be a huge boost for this class.
