The more things change for the Pittsburgh Steelers, the more they stay the same. Regardless of Mike Tomlin’s excellent coaching resume, some fans love to hate the Steelers’ head coach.
While much of the criticism surrounding Tomlin over the past few years has been unfounded, his coaching decisions in Week 12 left plenty to be desired.
For example, some fans argue that Tomlin directly cost the Pittsburgh Steelers the game when he made the call to accept an illegal touching penalty on an offensive lineman during fourth down. This decision gave the Cleveland Browns another opportunity to complete a third-down conversion in prime scoring position. His bizarre choice ultimately backfired, as Browns RB Nick Chubb ran in the game-deciding touchdown just a few plays later.
Another questionable aspect of Tomlin’s Week 12 performance was his awkward usage of the team’s second-half timeouts, leaving little to no time for the Pittsburgh Steelers to stage a last-minute comeback.
The Steel City has one of the most passionate sports fanbases in the world, and here are some of the best fan reactions to Tomlin’s odd coaching decisions in Week 12.
Let’s be honest here… without a 1RHOF QB bailing him out, year after year… Tomlin has delivered a slightly-above the NFL average performing squad…

I know several Ravens, Bengals, and Browns fans who also think Mike Tomlin should be fired

My takeaways from the Steelers loss to the Browns yesterday night;
– Teryl Austin is horrible at his job.
– Mike Tomlin had one of the worst coaching games he’s ever had.
– Arthur Smith honored Matt Canada 👎
– Russ is good at football BUT he holds onto the rock way too long— 🖤KillesBurgh💛 (@killesburgh) November 22, 2024
We’re in mediocrity purgatory with him, of course everyone else will take him we get it. But hasn’t won a playoff since ‘16, continues to have the worst loss of his career every year. Mike Tomlin out Tomlin’d himself more than the Browns being the Browns last night

What’s worse is Tomlin’s terrible clock management at the end. Wasted a TO late in the 4th then doesn’t take one to preserve time just before the Cleveland TD. Should have had about 30 more seconds and could have had a much greater chance.

Mike Tomlin’s “in stadium coaching ” was awful last night. You take 4th and 2 all day to win the game!
