Texas A&M (8-2, 5-1 SEC) will face the Auburn Tigers (4-6, 1-5) in a must-win SEC road game on Saturday night, knowing that a win will set up one of the biggest games in program history against the No. 3-ranked Texas Longhorns on Nov. 30.
While the 2024 season is the primary focus, it’s hard not to pay attention to how many Texas A&M’s 2025 commits are doing during the latter half of their senior seasons, especially with National Signing Day less than two weeks away.
One of the Aggies’ top defensive commits, 4-star Edge Marco Jones, out of Danville, California, is wrecking offenses with 9.5 sacks and 29 tackles for loss. At the same time, On3’s Charles Power shared Jones’ industry rankings as a rising prospect.
While Jones is a four-star prospect according to ESPN, 247Sports, On3, and Rivals, he is ranked the highest in On3’s class rankings as the 57th-ranked prospect and the 6th-ranked Edge in the cycle.
Jones is a pure pass rusher with plenty of athleticism to gel quickly with Texas A&M head coach Mike Elko and DC Jay Bateman’s defense. After losing 5-star quarterback and California native Husan Longstreet to USC, it’s up to Elko and his staff to ensure Jones is locked in ahead of National Signing Day on Dec. 4.
Texas A&M EDGE commit Marco Jones is a senior riser for @On3Recruits. Having a great season with 29 TFL and 9.5 sacks. Showing burst, bend and quick hands as a pass rusher. Industry Comparison: https://t.co/4HneW6xl4m pic.twitter.com/iBsv6MPiof
