LSU commit QB Bryce Underwood is the No. 1 overall recruit in the 2025 class. The Michigan native emerged as a freshman and has held the top spot since the rankings made their debut.
Barring a late surprise, Underwood is set to sign with LSU in less than a month. He’ll become the top-ranked QB signee in LSU’s history, but where does he rank among all-time QB recruits this century?
We don’t have recruiting data that spans the entire history of college football, so there’s no way of knowing how today’s recruits compared to the class of 1963 and so on. But 247Sports has data going back to 2000 when the modern recruiting era began.
With a rating of 0.9972, Underwood is the 22nd-ranked QB recruit this century. He’s one spot ahead of former LSU QB Ryan Perrilloux and just behind former UGA QB Matthew Stafford.
In recent years, we’ve seen some QBs with perfect 1.000 ratings or better. That list includes Trevor Lawrence, Justin Field, and Bryce Young.
Underwood’s rating isn’t quite to that level, but there’s a pretty good track record of No. 1 overall QBs working out.
