The Vancouver Canucks (9-5-3) host the New York Rangers (11-4-1) on Tuesday  Puck drop from Rogers Arena is scheduled for 10:00 p.m. ET. Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s NHL odds around the Rangers vs. Canucks odds and make our expert NHL picks and predictions.

Season series: First meeting; 1-1 last season with road team winning each time

The Canucks have gone 2-3 in their past 5 contests, alternating results each time, punctuated by a 5-3 loss to the Nashville Predators on Sunday despite goals from wingers Elias Pettersson, Kiefer Sherwood, and Aatu Raty.

Norris Trophy winner Quinn Hughes paces the Canucks with 18 points (3 goals, 15 assists), dishing out at least one helper in 7 of 8 November games.

New York rides a 2-game win streak into this latest West Coast stop. The Rangers defeated the Seattle Kraken 2-0 on Sunday, riding tallies from LW Alexis Lafreniere and D Zac Jones to support a 24-save shutout from G Jonathan Quick. (Funny how he’s once again thriving, this time during Igor Shesterkin‘s contract year.)

LW Artemi Panarin (10 goals, 14 assists) is dominating the regular season once again, recording a point in all but 1 game this year (Oct. 29 vs. Washington Capitals).

Rangers at Canucks projected goalies

Igor Shesterkin (7-4-1, 2.78, .914) vs. Kevin Lankinen (8-3-2, 2.71, .901)

The Rangers rolled with Quick on the road against the Seattle Kraken on Sunday. The veteran delivered a shutout for his second straight game to lower his already sparkling GAA to 0.91.

No goaltending controversy yet, though: Coach Peter Laviolette probably will let Shesty loose against a more dangerous Canucks team. Shesterkin rebounded from a pair of 5-goal stinkers by allowing just 2 to the San Jose Sharks on Thursday.

Lankinen started hot across his first 9 games of the season (7-0-2, .923, 2.08) but has allowed 4 goals in each of his past 2 games. As a result, Vancouver ranked tied for the NHL’s sixth-worst save percentage through Sunday (.884).

Arturs Silovs (3.86 GAA) hasn’t shown enough to challenge Lankinen’s hold on the gig, though.

Rangers at Canucks picks and predictions

Prediction

Rangers 4, Canucks 3

Moneyline

Vancouver’s combination of 5-on-5 advantage and home ice normally would tempt bettors to lock in the plus money.

However, the near-pick ’em moneyline prompts me to back the team with steadier goaltending. New York has the edge regardless of whether the scorching-hot Quick or the bouncing-back Shesterkin minds the net.

BET RANGERS (-115).

Puck line/Against the spread

Ranking fifth in Expected Goals – Even Strength at 54.89% (per MoneyPuck), Vancouver should hang with the Rangers, if not outplay them, in 5-on-5 — New York’s weakness.

Expect plenty of goals to be scored (more on that later), with the margins tight and the puck line moving in the way of the underdog.

However, betting Canucks +1.5 costs way too much juice (-250) to enthusiastically “take the goals.”

PASS unless it’s a parlay leg.

Over/Under

Given the even-strength metrics advantage, the home team should find the back of the net more than once, even against New York’s talented goalie duo.

The offense should run both ways, though. These clubs rank well on the power play (Rangers 7th at 25.6%, Canucks 11th at 22%), and New York should capitalize on Vancouver’s slumping puck-stopping.

BET OVER 6 (-120).
