Michigan State basketball will spend at least one more week outside the top 25 in the USA TODAY Sports Coaches Poll.
The new rankings dropped on Monday, and to no surprise, Michigan State was still sitting outside the top 25. The Spartans received nine votes in this week’s poll, which is 20 less votes from last week’s poll.
The Spartans are unofficially ranked No. 33 this week based on other teams that received votes as well.
From the Big Ten, Purdue was the highest-ranked team at No. 6. Indiana was next at No. 18, followed by Illinois at No. 20 and Wisconsin at No. 25. Rutgers and Ohio State both dropped out of the rankings this week.
Michigan State is 3-1 overall on the year, and will host Samford on Tuesday night from the Breslin Center. Tipoff is scheduled for 8 p.m. ET.
