Major changes atop the SEC standings after Week 12

There’s a new top team in the SEC standings after Georgia’s 31-17 win over Tennessee in Week 12

The Texas Longhorns are back on top of the SEC standings after Week 12. Texas won 20-10 in a closer than expected game at Arkansas. The Longhorns’ defensive front disrupted Arkansas’ offense and forced a key fumble.

In the SEC’s top game of Week 12, Georgia earned a massive 31-17 home win over the Tennessee Volunteers, who were previously atop the SEC standings. Georgia is done with SEC play and will have to wait and see if it makes the SEC championship game.

Georgia quarterback Carson Beck looked like a first-round NFL draft pick again as Georgia played its first home game in a month. The Bulldogs are almost College Football Playoff locks.

Florida upset No. 22 LSU at home to keep its bowl hopes alive. Quarterback DJ Lagway returned for Florida, which crushed LSU’s remaining SEC championship and playoff hopes.

South Carolina quarterback LaNorris Sellers threw for 353 yards, five touchdowns and one interception as the No. 21 Gamecocks scored late to beat No. 23 Missouri.

Auburn beat Louisiana-Monroe, 48-14. Kentucky beat Murray State, 48-6. Alabama beat Mercer, 52-7, and Texas A&M beat New Mexico State, 38-3. A whopping five SEC teams played non-Power Four opponents in Week 12.

Ole Miss, Vanderbilt, Oklahoma and Mississippi State had bye weeks in Week 12.
