Jerod Mayo shares likelihood of Christian Barmore playing vs. Rams

There’s a chance Christian Barmore could see the field on Sunday

New England Patriots coach Jerod Mayo indicated there’s a chance that defensive tackle Christian Barmore could play in Sunday’s game against the Los Angeles Rams.

Barmore returned to practice on Thursday for his first practice since being placed on the non-football injury list over the summer due to blood clots.

When healthy, the University of Alabama standout has been a key piece of the Patriots’ defense on the football field. He has recorded 133 total tackles and 12.5 sacks in three seasons. He had 64 tackles and 8.5 sacks in 17 games last year.

“There’s a chance,” Mayo said. “We have a meeting with the doctors after practice today. There is a chance. No, no, seriously. There is a chance.”

Barmore’s return would be a huge help for a Patriots defensive line that has missed him this season. Getting a player of his caliber back in the mix would be a big win for the team.

It would add even more firepower to the same defense that recorded nine sacks and 13 hits last week against Chicago Bears rookie quarterback Caleb Williams.
