The Philadelphia Eagles improved to 8-2 with a 26-18 win over the Washington Commanders (7-4) on Thursday Night Football.
The Commanders led for much of this game despite a sluggish offensive performance. Quarterback Jayden Daniels struggled for the second consecutive game, completing 22 of 32 passes for 191 yards with a touchdown and interception. While Daniels’ final numbers were decent enough, he rarely threw the ball downfield, and his accuracy was off again.
Washington’s defense played well, helping the Commanders cling to a 10-6 lead early in the fourth quarter before Eagles running back Saquon Barkley busted loose for a pair of fourth-quarter touchdowns. At this point, the Eagles seized momentum and never looked back. While Philadelphia quarterback Jalen Hurts was sloppy, it was a dominant performance overall from the Eagles, specifically in the trenches.
How did X — formerly Twitter — react to Washington’s second consecutive loss? Let’s look at some of those reactions.
Commanders lose in Philly. First two-game losing skid of the season.
Offense has clearly taken step back against varsity defenses. Daniels struggled tonight.
Just a rough stretch? Kingsbury second half of season issue rearing its head? Daniels rib an issue?
Staff has work…

Thoughts on today’s loss @ Philadelphia:
• Jayden’s worst game yet, by far. I don’t think he’s healthy at all. Couldn’t push the ball down field all night. Looked hesitant to run. Not sure if ribs or hand or both, but he’s not right.
• I thought DQ and Kliff combined for…

#Commanders‘ worst offensive performance of the season by far. Jayden Daniels doesn’t look right. Terry McLaurin got humbled by Quinyon Mitchell. Kliff Kingsbury got out-coached by Vic Fangio. Defense wilted but was great through three quarters. The mini-bye is extremely needed.

Rough night. #Eagles had something to do with it. Fangio vs QB who finally played like a rookie. Fangio > Kingsbury tonight. Defense okay for a half but ran out of gas at same time Philly stopped beating themselves. Last 4 min were handled poorly & called by Al/Kirk cluelessly.

No need to crash out tonight. Show some resiliency. This is the NFL and every team faces adversity.
The Commanders are still a playoff team with a favorable schedule moving forward.

You all deserved another year of Heinicke or Sam Howell. One bad game playing hurt and everyone turns on JD5. Just forget all he’s done in three months for us. Completely changed the trajectory of our franchise and got us respect and this is how you guys treat him 🤣 this fanbase…

Effort was there. Want-to was there. But the Commanders got worked on both sides of the line of scrimmage tonight by the Eagles. They’re vastly, vastly improved, but not yet there with the elite teams. Ten days off to get ready for the stretch run, starting with Dallas.

Two very unpleasant games in five days. Tough. But, we were only in position to feel this way because things were going so much better than expected. Everybody rest up.

Perhaps Jayden Daniels is not “injured” enough to be on the official report, but clearly something is not right.
I’ve made this point several times. He & the #Commanders have now played 11 weeks in a row plus six weeks of camp/preseason.
That’s 17 weeks in a row of football.

It’s a divisional game on a short week on the road. It’s as scheduled of a loss as possible. Doesn’t excuse a lot of this but at the end of the day we’d take 7-4 at the beginning of the season. I’m thinking optimistically.

For a team that has fought for every second all season, this is a strange time to hit the give-up button.
