Washington women’s soccer receives bid to NCAA Tournament

Washington Women’s Soccer got their ticket to the Big Dance on Monday afternoon.

The Washington Huskies had to sweat out Monday’s selection show for the NCAA Women’s Soccer Tournament. After losing to UCLA in the semifinals of the Big Ten Tournament, who went on to win the title, the fate of coach Nicole Van Dyke’s team was uncertain following a very successful campaign that saw them finish 10-6-3.

The Huskies were one of the final teams called during the selection show and are slated to play No. 8-seeded Utah State in Logan, Utah, on Friday, Nov. 15, at 1:00 p.m. PST. The winner of that matchup will face the victors of Southern University and No. 1 seed Mississippi State.

This will be Van Dyke’s second appearance in the NCAA Tournament in her five seasons at Washington, after leading the Huskies to the Sweet 16 in 2020 and appearance No. 17 for the program.

Washington has faced off with Utah State three times and owns a 2-0-1 record against the Aggies, playing their most recent matchup to a 1-1 draw in Logan in 2012.
