Following numerous favorable Week 11 results, the Colorado Buffaloes appear primed to move up multiple spots in Tuesday’s second College Football Playoff Top 25 rankings reveal.
Colorado landed No. 20 in last week’s inaugural rankings reveal, putting the Buffs eight spots away from the 12-team CFP bracket. But after beating Texas Tech on Saturday and improving to 7-2, national outlets predict Colorado will slide in somewhere between No. 18 and No. 16 on Tuesday.
Personally, I’m expecting the CFP selection committee to rank head coach Deion Sanders’ Buffs at No. 17. Week 11 losses from the No. 15 LSU Tigers, No. 17 Iowa State Cyclones and No. 18 Pitt Panthers (rankings from last week’s CFP Top 25) should move Colorado up about three spots.
On Sunday, Colorado landed No. 18 in the latest AP Top 25 and No. 20 in the US LBM Coaches Poll.
With two losses and remaining regular season games against sub-.500 opponents Utah, Kansas and Oklahoma State, Colorado’s best chance at reaching the College Football Playoff is still through winning the Big 12.
ESPN will broadcast the second CFP Top 25 rankings reveal on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. MT.
