One of Texas A&M’s 2026 recruiting targets has decommitted from Alabama

Texas A&M target, 2026 4-star CB Dorian Barney has decommitted from Alabama

Texas A&M head coach Mike Elko received some good news during the tail end of the Aggies’ bye week. It has been confirmed that 2026 4-star cornerback Dorian Barney, out of Carrolton, Georgia, has decommitted from Alabama.

Barney received an offer from Texas A&M in January, and ever since his committing to Alabama, Elko and his staff have stayed in contact, as the interest has been reciprocated. While Barney has yet to fix the Aggies, the recent recruiting momentum in College Station has certainly caught his eye.

After defeating LSU in Week 9, Texas A&M landed four commitments in the 2026 recruiting cycle, culminating with 4-star tight end Xavier Tiller announcing his commitment last Monday.

For Barney, Elko’s development background at the cornerback position is too intriguing to pass up, knowing that Texas A&M’s secondary will only continue to improve year after year with Elko at the helm.

According to 247Sports, Barney is currently positioned as the 66th-ranked prospect in the 2026 cycle, the 9th-ranked cornerback prospect, and the 8th-ranked prospect in Georgia.
