Vita Vea turns in a career-best effort on Monday Night Football

Vita Vea had a career game on Monday Night Football in a loss to the Kansas City Chiefs.

The Kansas City Chiefs may have remained undefeated on Monday Night Football, moving to 8-0 on the season with a 30-24 victory over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, but one player stole the show. Former Washington Huskies star and Tampa Bay defensive tackle Vita Vea looked like the best player on the field and should have been honored as the game’s MVP if the Buccaneers were able to come away with a victory.

In a game where Patrick Mahomes was under duress on seemingly every snap, Vea had arguably the best game of his career while working against All-Pro center Creed Humphrey. He finished the night with a career-high 10 tackles and 2 sacks, totaling 3 tackles for a loss.

Monday night marked the third time in Vea’s career that he tallied 2 sacks on an impressive night for him getting after the quarterback. He had 3 quarterback hits and was also credited for a pressure where he forced Mahomes to roll out to his right before his teammate, Calijah Kancey, finished the sack.

The Buccaneers finished the night with 4 sacks, with Kancey pitching in a second, but proved that they will be a serious threat in a weak NFC South.
