PFF grades: Colts’ 3 highest-graded defenders vs Vikings

Here are the three Indianapolis Colts’ defenders who received the highest-grades from PFF following Sunday’s loss in Minnesota.

The Indianapolis Colts are now coming off their second consecutive loss, this time losing to the Minnesota Vikings to fall to 4-5 on the season.

Against a high-powered Vikings offense, the defense would give up a lot of yards but held their own for much of the game when it came to keeping points off the board. However, a late score by the Vikings coupled with a lack-luster performance from the Indianapolis offense was too much to overcome.

So, following Sunday’s performance, which players on defense for the Colts received the highest marks from PFF?

Now, as always, before diving into those grades, I do want to provide the usual disclaimer mentioning that PFF’s grading system is certainly not the be-all-end-all. It is one metric out of many and should be treated as such.

But with that said, typically, if a player performs well, their grade reflects that.

Below is a look at PFF’s grading system to provide some context behind the numbers:

90.0+: Elite
80-89.9: High quality
70-79.9: Good
60-69.9: Above average
50-59.9: Average
40-49.9: Below average
39.9 or less: Poor

LB Grant Stuard

PFF grade: 78.3

Operating as the third linebacker when the Colts are in base, Stuard made all three of his tackle attempts, including two stops, and in coverage he was credited with giving up two completions but the pass-catchers totaled minus-six yards.

CB Kenny Moore

PFF grade: 75.1

As he does, Moore did a little bit of everything for the Colts’ defense. The big play came when he scooped up the fumble and returned it for a touchdown. He also made six solo tackles and limited pass catchers to only 30 yards on five receptions.

DE Kwity Paye

PFF grade: 66.0

Paye’s biggest impact came as a pass rusher, where he totaled three pressures, including a sack. PFF also credited him with a run-stop as well.

Honorable Mentions

S Nick Cross: 64.7
LB EJ Speed: 64.6
LB Zaire Franklin: 63.1
