The Miami Dolphins added defensive tackle Shakel Brown to their practice squad, the team announced Wednesday.
Brown, 25, spent his rookie season with the Tennessee Titans in 2023 after signing with the team as an undrafted free agent. He spent the entire year on the injured reserve after suffering an ankle injury in preseason.
After he was waived by Tennessee in the offseason, Brown signed with the San Francisco 49ers and spent the first month of the regular season on the team’s practice squad. He was released by the 49ers earlier this month and hasn’t yet appeared in an NFL game.
The Dolphins had a vacancy on their practice squad after parting with second-year offensive tackle Anderson Hardy on Tuesday.
While Miami signed several defensive linemen in the 2024 offseason, that depth was whittled down in training camp and the Dolphins’ subsequently lost two defensive tackles — Jonathan Harris and Naquan Jones — from their practice squad.
That proved costly Sunday when Zach Sieler was out of action and the Dolphins elevated Neil Farrell to play against the Arizona Cardinals to underwhelming results.
Aside from Brown and Farrell, the Dolphins also have defensive lineman Matt Dickerson on their practice squad.
