The Houston Texans head into Thursday night’s game beaten and bruised on offense but could be gaining help defensively.
Linebackers Henry To’oTo’o and Azeez Al-Shaair returned to practice, as did safety Jimmie Ward in preparation to take on the New York Jets at MetLife Stadium.
To’oTo’o, who suffered a concussion against the New England Patriots, practiced fully, Al-Shaair, who suffered a knee injury in Week 6’s road win and Ward, who left during Week 5’s win over the Buffalo Bills, were limited.
Rookie safety Calen Bullock (shoulder) was also limited after leaving during Sunday’s win over the Indianapolis Colts, though he is expected to play for the AFC South-leading champions.
Running back Dameon Pierce (groin) and center/guard Jarrett Patterson (concussion) did not participate.
To’oTo’o is expected to play after missing the past two games. The second-year linebacker said it was a moment he knew how to prepare for after suffering one last season.
“I’m excited,” To’oTo’o said about returning this week. “That’s my biggest thing. I’m just so excited to be able to play the game. I love it and also to be out with the guys that you work so hard with every single day. I’m excited. I’m juiced up and ready to go.”
In six starts, To’oTo’o leads the Texans with 46 tackles, two tackles for loss, and a sack.
