Yankees fan who grabbed Mookie Betts’ glove has zero shame about his actions

“If it’s in our area, we’re going to ‘D’ up.”

It was the dumbest thing to do, World Series game or otherwise: a pair of New York Yankees fans tried to yank Mookie Betts’ glove off after the Los Angeles Dodgers star made a catch in foul ground, popping the ball out.

It was, of course, fan interference, and while the memes were immaculate, the die-hards in question were removed from the game.

Per an interview with ESPN’s Jesse Rogers, the fans — Austin Capobianco and John Peter — have discussed the possibility of this very thing happening. Capobianco is a season-ticket holder.

And yes, they have no shame about what they did:

Capobianco, a Yankees season-ticket holder, said he knew he would be in trouble but chose to grab and open Betts’ glove nonetheless, telling ESPN that he and Peter often discuss this exact scenario: If a foul ball comes their way, they’re going to do what they can to help their team.

“We always joke about the ball in our area,” Capobianco, 38, said at a local bar after the game. “We’re not going to go out of our way to attack. If it’s in our area, we’re going to ‘D’ up.

“Someone defends, someone knocks the ball. We talk about it. We’re willing to do this.”

Wow.
