Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Tee Higgins recently addressed trade speculation.
Unfortunately for Higgins, trade speculation isn’t going to stop until the NFL trade deadline passes.
Case in point, Jason La Canfora of the Washington Post recently noted that teams continue to call: “Should the 3-5 Cincinnati Bengals deal Tee Higgins, who is certain to leave as a free agent in the offseason and has missed multiple games because of injuries? They should, and teams are calling. Does anyone think owner Mike Brown will do it? It would be shocking at this point. ”
Teams will keep asking about Higgins in the name of due diligence — and the Bengals will keep declining any and all offers.
The Bengals hit Higgins with the franchise tag and remain unlikely to keep him from leaving via free agency next offseason, yes. But even if the team were winless, it doesn’t usually act as sellers.
Adding to the complexity of the situation is the fact that the Bengals still technically remain in the hunt in the AFC despite the 3-5 record.
Plus, Higgins is injured again, this time with a quad issue suffered during practice that sidelined him in Week 8 and puts the upcoming week or two in doubt, too.
