- A Michigan State player and staffer were on ground during a skirmish and seemingly in the area where they appeared to be stomped on by a Michigan player following Saturday night’s rivalry game.
Tempers flared following Michigan State’s narrow loss against rival Michigan on Saturday night, and that boiled over into a Michigan player stomping on a Spartans player and staffer. Michigan State head coach Jonathan Smith confirmed this happened after the game during his weekly press conference on Monday.
Due to video footage, it is believed that Michigan starting running back Kalel Mullings was the Wolvereins player that stomped on the Spartans’ player and staffer. According to Smith, the Big Ten is looking into the fight and will take over the investigation from here.
Smith says MSU had a player and staff member in the pile where Michigan RB Kalel Mullings was caught on video stomping. That is something the Big Ten will be examining, he adds.

Michigan topped the Spartans, 24-17, in the in-state rivalry game on Saturday. Michigan State has now lost three straight games against the Wolverines, with this being the second time in the past three years that a post-game fight has occurred.
Michigan State football returns to the field this week in a home game against Indiana. Kickoff between the Spartans and Hoosiers is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. ET.
