Florida hangs tight in CBS Sports re-rank following Week 9 bye

Florida is still a top-50 team in CBS Sports’ Week 9 re-ranked… but barely.

College football’s Week 9 once again saw some exciting efforts out on the field, particularly in the Southeastern Conference where the battle for the league crown as well as a berth in the playoffs rages on.

The Florida Gators, however, were not in action as they took their second bye of the fall to prepare for the annual rivalry game in Jacksonville against the Georgia Bulldogs — who also got a breather last weekend.

Given that the Orange and Blue was idle, it makes sense that the CBS Sports re-rank penned by Chip Patterson left [autotag]Billy Napier[/autotag] and Co. right where they were last week at No. 50. That puts Florida between the No. 49 Liberty Flames and No. 51 Texas Tech Red Raiders.

Meanwhile, most of the nation was out on the gridiron grind, which resulted in a few changes among the top 10 teams.

The Oregon Ducks remain perched at No. 1 this week while Georgia moved up two spots to No. 2, followed by the Penn State Nittany Lions who held tight at No. 3, the Ohio State Buckeyes who fell two spots to No. 4, and the Miami Hurricanes who stayed onto the No. 5 spot.

The Texas Longhorns and Indiana Hoosiers remain at Nos. 6 and 7, respectively, while the Iowa State Cyclones and BYU Cougars both moved up a spot to Nos. 8 and 9, respectively; the Clemson Tigers fell two spots to No. 10.

Coming up for the Gators

Florida and Georgia face off for a Week 10 rivalry battle in Jacksonville on Saturday, Nov. 2 with kickoff slated for 3:30 p.m. ET. The pregame festivities will be featured on SEC Nation and the game will be broadcast on ABC.
