Wisconsin remains unranked in latest AP Top 25 Poll after Week 9

The Wisconsin Badgers (5-3, 3-2 in Big Ten) remain unranked in the AP Top 25 poll after Week 9 of the college football season.

After outscoring Purdue, Rutgers and Northwestern 117-16 in a three-week stretch, UW fell 28-13 to No. 3 Penn State at Camp Randall on Saturday. This marks the tenth consecutive week Wisconsin failed to crack the top 25 hierarchy.

The team’s performance against Penn State will likely erase any chance of joining the ranking in the coming weeks, despite the Badgers’ impressive recent offensive output.

The top five in the poll did not change much after Week 9. Oregon claimed the No. 1 spot after Week 8 and remains in the driver’s seat after a 38-9 win over No. 20 Illinois in Eugene, Oregon.

Georgia still holds the No. 2 spot, followed by Penn State (No. 3), Ohio State (No. 4), Miami-FL (No. 5) and Texas (No. 6). Outside of the Ducks, Nittany Lions and Buckeyes, other Big Ten teams in the AP Poll top 25 include Indiana at No. 13 and Illinois at No. 24.

Wisconsin’s next contest is slated for Nov. 2 against the Iowa Hawkeyes in Iowa City, Iowa. The game is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. CT and will be broadcast on NBC.
