Dabo Swinney shares an injury update on defensive lineman Vic Burley

Swinney shares an injury update on the talented redshirt freshman.

Clemson football’s defensive tackle Vic Burley was unavailable for the Tigers’ recent game against Virginia. Head coach Dabo Swinney updated Burley’s injury status during a Monday Zoom call, indicating that the redshirt freshman is expected to return after the team’s upcoming bye week.

Swinney expressed optimism about Burley’s recovery, anticipating his return for Clemson’s next game against Louisville on Nov. 2 at Memorial Stadium.
“We knew… I think it was Tuesday probably, that he was probably going to be out, wasn’t going to make it back,” Swinney said. “So yeah, he’s definitely a guy that should be back for sure.”

Burley has played in six of Clemson’s seven games this season, recording three tackles. The 6-foot-4, 320-pound defensive lineman arrived at Clemson as a highly-touted five-star recruit and Georgia 5A Defensive Player of the Year. After enrolling early in January 2023, Burley redshirted last year due to knee injuries that kept him sidelined for the entire season.
