NFL Week 8 power rankings: Rams inch toward top 20 after beating Raiders

The Rams got back on track a bit after beating the Raiders, moving them closer to the top 20 in this week’s power rankings

After getting some time off for their bye in Week 6, the Los Angeles Rams returned from their break and beat the Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday afternoon, 20-15. It was only their second win of the season, but it was a game they desperately needed in order to keep hope alive in the NFC playoff hunt.

Granted, it was against the lowly Raiders, who are viewed as one of the worst teams in football despite their win over the Ravens in Week 2. Because of the low competition level, analysts didn’t reward the Rams very much in this week’s power rankings, only moving Los Angeles up a few spots.

The Rams still rank outside the top 20 in most power rankings, though The Ringer continues to be high on them by putting LA 14th – eight spots higher than any other power rankings on the list below.

Here’s where the Rams fall in various polls after Week 7.

FOX Sports: 22nd (last week: 24th)

The Ringer: 14th (last week: 15th)

High: 14th – Low: 24th – Average: 22.1

Last week, the Rams’ average ranking was 24.4, so they moved up an average of 2.3 spots following their win over the Raiders. Now, if they can find a way to beat the Vikings on Thursday night, it’ll really give them a big boost heading into Week 9, making them a team that can’t be overlooked down the stretch.

With Cooper Kupp set to return, it should provide a lift on offense where the Rams are only 20th in total yards and 23rd in scoring.
