Updated SEC Football Standings after Week 8

Here are the updated SEC Standings ahead of Texas A&M’s Week 9 home test vs. LSU

Week 8 of the 2024 college football ended after several top-ranked teams fell on the road and at home, including the former No. 1-ranked Texas Longhorns primetime 30-15 loss to Georgia, which shocked most of the country.

In the SEC, Texas wasn’t the only conference contender to struggle. After falling to Tennessee 24-17 in Rocky Top, Alabama sustained its second loss of the year, likely pushing the Tide out of the College Football Playoff conversation until further notice.

Texas A&M took care of business on the road vs. Mississippi State, winning 34-24 behind a solid defensive effort in the second half despite starting quarterback Conner Weigman’s two interceptions and below-average day in the pocket.

This week, head coach Mike Elko and his team have moved on to LSU. The 8th-ranked Tigers will face the Aggies in Kyle Field for a chance to take sole possession of first place in the conference. Both teams are the only undefeated SEC programs remaining.

Around the rest of the SEC, Vanderbilt, now the 25th-ranked team in the country, defeated lowly Ball State 24-24, while Florida and Missouri also earned impressive wins.

However, Oklahoma’s blowout loss at home to South Carolina further proved that the Sooners aren’t quite SEC-ready and look like one of the worst teams in the conference.
