Atlanta Falcons offensive lineman Matthew Bergeron has been ruled out with an injury he suffered during the third quarter of Sunday’s game against the Seattle Seahawks.
Bergeron was initially evaluated for a concussion and though he cleared protocol, he’s still sidelined due to a neck injury. This is a big loss for the Falcons up front as Bergeron has started all 24 games at left guard for the team since he was selected as a second-round draft pick back in 2023.
He’s allowed just one sack on quarterback Kirk Cousins this season and has only given up 12 pressures to opposing defenses over the same period.
Bergeron’s place, at least for now, will be taken by backup left guard Kyle Hinton, who is in the midst of his second season as a Falcon. Hinton has seen action for the Falcons in the past, playing 64 snaps on special teams and 63 snaps on the offensive side of the ball.
Atlanta will look to make a comeback as it trails Seattle, 31-14 early on in the fourth quarter in Mercedes-Benz Stadium.
