Where does Clemson rank in new US LBM Coaches Poll after latest lopsided win?

Here’s where Clemson ranks in the Week 8 US LBM Coaches Poll, released Sunday.

The Clemson Tigers had little trouble extending their win streak to six straight games with a 48-31 victory over the Virginia Cavaliers on Saturday afternoon in Death Valley.

But the Tigers (6-1) saw no movement in this week’s US LBM Coaches Poll, released Sunday. Clemson stayed at No. 9, despite going over 500 yards of total offense for the second week in a row in ACC play.

The Tennessee Volunteers (6-1) moved up two spots to No. 8 and moved past Clemson in the Coaches Poll after taking down the Alabama Crimson Tide (5-2), 24-17, in Knoxville on Saturday.

Dabo Swinney’s team is ranked one spot behind the Volunteers and one spot ahead of the unbeaten Iowa State Cyclones (7-0).

The Oregon Ducks (7-0) are the new No. 1 team after the previously top-ranked Texas Longhorns (6-1) fell to the Georgia Bulldogs (6-1), 30-15, at Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium in Austin.

Georgia rose two spots to No. 2 while the Penn State Nittany Lions (6-0) stayed at No. 3. The Ohio State Buckeyes (No. 4, 5-1) and Miami Hurricanes (No. 5, 7-0) rounded out the top five with Texas falling to No. 6. The ‘Canes will host the Florida State Seminoles in their annual rivalry game next Saturday at Hard Rock Stadium.

Elsewhere in the ACC, the Pitt Panthers (6-0) stayed at No. 20 while the SMU Mustangs (6-1) rose one spot to No. 22. SMU defeated the Stanford Cardinal, 40-10, in Palo Alto Saturday. Pitt was idle.

Clemson has a bye this week and will return to action Nov. 2 when the Tigers welcome the Louisville Cardinals to Death Valley. Kickoff time and broadcast info for the game have yet to be announced.
